The ScalpTox™

ScalpTox was born from a simple truth: in Japan, the dry head spa is not a luxury — it's a ritual. The same intention you bring to caring for your body should be brought to your scalp — consistently, precisely, with purpose. Japanese technique is built on that philosophy. Pressure point work, deep circulation work, layered serum application — every step has a reason. Nothing is decorative.

ScalpTox brings that practice to New York City — because it doesn't exist here the way it should.

Ikuko, ScalpTox scalp therapist

Ikuko いくこ

Ikuko began her career as a hair stylist in Japan before moving to New York in 2000, where she refined her craft alongside the city's most forward-thinking salons. In 2013 she established her own practice, guided by a single conviction: that a healthy scalp is the foundation of beautiful hair and lasting wellbeing.

Working from a mildly acidic (weak-acidic) approach to scalp care, she developed a treatment philosophy centered on deep detoxification—thoroughly clearing buildup and impurities from the pores to restore balance at the root. Her results have earned a devoted following, with clients valuing the method as much for how their scalp feels as for the experience itself.

She holds a New York State Cosmetology License.

Scalp Therapist

The ScalpTox Method

A precision-based scalp wellness protocol rooted in Japanese head spa tradition. Every session is designed to release, restore, and rebalance — from the scalp to the shoulders.

01

Diagnose

A thorough scalp analysis looks at your scalp’s condition and your tension patterns — temples, jaw, neck and shoulders — before any treatment begins.

02

Release

Pressure-point and release work on the muscles of the scalp loosens the tension that builds up from screens, focus and stress. Your hair stays dry throughout.

03

Restore

Targeted serums — peptides and Japanese botanical extracts — leave the scalp nourished and comfortable.

04

Activate

Hands-on techniques drawn from Japanese head spa tradition support circulation and release tension across the scalp.

05

Protect

Each session closes with a protective finishing serum and simple at-home guidance, so the clear-headed feeling lasts longer.

06

Track

We note your scalp condition and tension points at each visit, so every session builds on the last.
